New Book on PHP and AI
In January 2023, I signed up for writesonic.com, a writing-oriented AI platform, and haven't looked back since. That having been said, I'm ultra-pleased to announce the pending release of my new book on PHP and AI, written with my real-world knowledgeable co-author Rainier Sarabia. PHP / GenAI Course Series
I've also been heavily involved in the development of a new series of courses for Zend by Perforce. These courses are short (3 hours long on average) and extremely focused, giving you the best bang for your buck. Currently published, or in the works, are courses on integrating OpenAI GPT models into your PHP code and returning text, audio, and images. We're also offering courses that leverage the Symfony AI Bundle, and the Laravel AI SDK. For more information have a look here: .

Code examples really show you what we're all about. We have 88 public repositories on github.com with examples written over the years primarily focused on Mezzio, Laminas (formerly Zend Framework), PHP, MySQL and MongoDB.
Music
Under the stage name of Zelfë Doug played in the band Control which gave a number of unique performances in the early 1980s. He released a CD Contrasts in 1999. Look for a new release featuring Big Band music in the next year.

AI Takeover
There have been more than a few sensationalist articles, posts, and videos popping up online with various themes, all pretty much postulating that AI will destroy humanity. We've lived through centuries of profound societal shifts, and in each one the doomsayers would claim it's the End of the World. It seems the human race is afflicted with a fascination with the "End Times."
What's important to recognize is the timing and also the synchronized nature of these claims. Let's be clear: AI is not going to destroy humanity if it's in the right hands. ... However, the tech billionaires are doing what all the other wealthy elites are doing: consolidating their grip on this potentially revolutionary technology. The current hue and cry about AI ending humanity is how the elites will sell the public on the need to control and contain this technology. And who better to do this than ... wealthy billionaires who hardly have the public's best interests in mind?
Endless War
This madness needs to stop. The only group of people served by endless war are those involved with the military-industrial complex. Elections are often bought and paid for by psychotic elites, but you can at least make your voice heard by calling your local politicians.
In these consequential times, humanity is undergoing a tremendous societal shift. Revolutionary, game-changing technologies such as robotics and AI, are profoundly reshaping society. But, at the same time, as George Orwell predicted in his famous book 1984, a shifting mosaic of alliances are forming, amounting to a challenge to the existing Empire and the so-called "Rules-Based Order".
The good news is that unlike those who experienced the fall of the Roman Empire centuries ago, we have near-instantaneous communications systems that allow us to keep informed. However, it's extremely important to use discernment, as "misinformation", and misinformation disguised as fact, makes it harder and harder to get to the truth, as we ride out the inevitable Fall of the Empire.
