New Book on PHP and AI

In January 2023, I signed up for writesonic.com, a writing-oriented AI platform, and haven't looked back since. That having been said, I'm ultra-pleased to announce the pending release of my new book on PHP and AI, written with my real-world knowledgeable co-author Rainier Sarabia. You can check out the announcement on this page.

PHP / GenAI Course Series

I've also been heavily involved in the development of a new series of courses for Zend by Perforce. These courses are short (3 hours long on average) and extremely focused, giving you the best bang for your buck. Currently published, or in the works, are courses on integrating OpenAI GPT models into your PHP code and returning text, audio, and images. We're also offering courses that leverage the Symfony AI Bundle, and the Laravel AI SDK. For more information have a look here: .

This website is powered by a micro framework Doug created called FileCMS.

 Code

Code examples really show you what we're all about. We have 88 public repositories on github.com with examples written over the years primarily focused on Mezzio, Laminas (formerly Zend Framework), PHP, MySQL and MongoDB.

 Music

Under the stage name of ZelfĂ«  Doug played in the band Control which gave a number of unique performances in the early 1980s. He released a CD Contrasts in 1999. Look for a new release featuring Big Band music in the next year.

Endless War

This madness needs to stop. The only group of people served by endless war are those involved with the military-industrial complex. Elections are often bought and paid for by psychotic elites, but you can at least make your voice heard by calling your local politicians.

Keep informed, but be extra cautious in this day of AI technology, which makes is super easy to mislead people.

AI Takeover

There have been more than a few sensationalist articles, posts, and videos popping up online with various themes that all pretty much postulate that AI will destroy humanity. We've lived through centuries of profound societal shifts, an in each one the doomsayers would claim the End of the World. It seems the human race is afflicted with a fascination with the "End Times."

AI systems are highly sophisticated pattern recognition systems that can quickly spot patterns and trends in the mountain of data they're provided. Much of documented human history is about conquest and acquiring resources through force. And this documented history is what the AI systems have ingested.

So ... if AI is truly going to destroy humanity, that means we have done a good job of making AI a reflection of ourselves. Congratulations Humanity!
